The success of the Duke-MURDOCK Study correlates directly to the engagement of community partners and their willingness to actively support this long-term health study.
Cooperation with local organizations and community leaders is vital to the continued success and advancement of our study. We are partners with a number of community organizations, covering a wide area of social interests, including education, healthcare, and fitness. From health education to our volunteer program, engaging and supporting our community is part of the MURDOCK Study’s daily mission.
The MURDOCK Study frequently hosts, sponsors, and attends events in the Concord/Kannapolis area. Look for regularly updated event posts on our homepage or check out a complete list of our events.
In addition, we strive to make MURDOCK Study participants aware of all of the wonderful community events that are happening in the area. Please check our various social media platforms, linked to on the bottom of this page, to discover what is going on in your community.
Community Advisory Board
Our Community Advisory Board is also a critical link to the pulse of our community, with board members coming from backgrounds of religion, politics, business, healthcare, and education. Created in January 2010, the board is made up of local community leaders and provides the MURDOCK Study team with a community voice. The group convenes biannually.
Healthcare Advisory Board
The MURDOCK Study Healthcare Advisory Board was created in January 2009 and is made up of local healthcare providers in the region. This group brings their on-the-ground clinical perspective and is dedicated to engaging their patients to join the study. The group convenes biannually.
